I use 40+ productivity tools. I’ve always been a little obsessive about productivity and organization, and my Mac setup definitely reflects that. If “be more productive, creative, organized, or inspired” is on your to-do list, take 5 minutes to explore: ✨ tools.garysmith.me ✨ Last week, I gave myself a 3-day challenge to build a simple site collecting all my favorite tools into one shareable place. I also made it an excuse to try out the latest AI tools. Here’s what happened. Normally, my flow is: gather inspiration → mock things up in Illustrator or Figma → build. This time, I started by writing a solid prompt and feeding it into v0.dev, which autogenerates your app’s “first version.” What came out wasn’t bad at all, but it didn’t feel well-designed. So, I pulled the output into Illustrator to define the design language, clarify the components, and shape it into something I’d actually want to share. I prompted v0 again using that mockup, and it took a decent step forward, setting up the main layout and component structure. But, it still couldn’t reach the level of craft I wanted. That’s when I went to Cursor. It took me from that janky prototype to something I was proud of in one night. The other 2 nights, I could then focus on responsiveness, copy, and the small details that make using sites like this delightful. The animated underline, for example, took way longer than I expected. I asked ChatGPT, Cursor, and v0 for help, and it’s still not quite right. But I kind of love that part. Personal projects are where I let myself fuss over little things that probably don’t matter to anyone else. It also left me wondering -- how far off are we from AI being able to handle this kind of fussy, human craft? Hope it can bring you some joy, or at least one new tab you didn’t know you needed.
